Sean McLain was drafted in the 2022 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 5th round. McLain is a second baseman who was honored in 2022 with being the PAC 12 baseball player of the year. Last year he started for the Sun Devils, batting .322 with 7 home runs and 25 extra-base hits. Though an injury and the shortened season prevented him from playing much in 2020, coaches and teammates weren't surprised when McClain showed up in 2021 as a redshirt freshman and earned All-American Freshman honors at the end of the season.
After all, he was recruited out of Arnold. D Beckman (Tustin, CA) by ASU because he could hit the ball all over the yard and play lockdown defense. McLain was a top 500 prospect according to Perfect Game and a top 300 prospect by Prep Baseball Report. His older brother, Matt, was taken 25th overall by the D-Backs in the 2018 MLB Draft and currently plays for UCLA.
