Russell Canouse is an American soccer midfielder, born and raised in Lancaster PA, who currently plays for D.C. United in Major League Soccer. Canouse joined the New York Red Bulls youth academy as a teenager, before moving to Germany, at just 15 years old, to pursue his passion of becoming a professional soccer player. After spending multiple years in TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's academy, he captained his U-19 team for the 2013/14 season and topped it off by winning the Bundesliga U19 Championship. At 20 years old, he then made his Bundesliga debut for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on March 12, 2016, coming-on as a substitute in a game against VfL Wolfsburg. Canouse then spent the 2016–17 season on loan at VfL Bochum in Bundesliga 2. In addition to his club career, Canouse was a key feature for all United States Youth National Teams, specifically the U14-U20. He captained the U20 side multiple times and helped the team qualify for the U20 World Cup. He was then named to the U.S. roster for the under-20 World Cup, but had to withdraw due to injury. Canouse has received multiple call-ups for the United States Men's National Soccer Team but has yet to record a cap. Outside of soccer, Canouse is an officially licensed realtor with Keller Williams and is heavily involved in the Keller Williams Sports and Entertainment Division. Canouse is married to Erika Canouse and is very close to his family and faith.
