Michael Wilbon is a distinguished American sports journalist and broadcaster, best known as the co-host of ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption (PTI) alongside Tony Kornheiser. Before transitioning to television, Wilbon spent over three decades at The Washington Post, where he began as a sports reporter in 1980 and became a full-time columnist in 1990. His writing was celebrated for its insightful commentary on the cultural and societal aspects of sports, covering major events like the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, and the Olympics. In 2010, Wilbon left The Washington Post to focus entirely on his expanding role at ESPN, where he also contributes as an analyst on NBA Countdown and appears across various platforms, including SportsCenter and ESPN Radio.

 

Throughout his illustrious career, Wilbon has received numerous accolades, including the Society of Professional Journalists' top sports columnist award in 2001 and the National Association of Black Journalists' Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. He was inducted into the National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame and received the Curt Gowdy Media Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 . A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Wilbon has also co-authored two best-selling books with NBA legend Charles Barkley. Known for his articulate analysis and engaging storytelling, Wilbon continues to be a prominent voice in sports media.
