Metta World Peace is a former NBA All-Star and an NBA Champion. Known as Ron Artest before legally changing his name in 2011, World Peace played college basketball for the St. John's Red Storm. He played for six teams over 18 seasons in the NBA and gained a reputation as one of the league's premier defenders. He won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004 when he was also named an NBA All-Star and earned All-NBA honors. He won an NBA championship in 2010 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Off the court, World Peace is a budding entrepreneur and actor. World Peace competed in Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars and was a contestant in the first American season of Celebrity Big Brother. World Peace is the founder of the Artest Media Group, Artest Management Group, and A37 Ventures. In 2020, Metta World Peace legally changed his name to Metta Sandiford-Artest.
