Demetrius "Meechie" Johnson Jr. is a former Ohio State guard, who announced on April 25, 2022, that he was committed to the University of South Carolina Athletics. By the age of 19, Meechie had already played two years of college basketball at Ohio State. During his first two seasons, Meechie was only able to average 3 points and 1 rebound in 43 games. He missed a few games due to a facial fracture he suffered in practice and an ankle injury later in the year. After 2 years with the program and some consideration, Johnson entered his name into the transfer portal. He visited Pittsburgh, DePaul, and South Carolina. Demetrius chose the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he has had an impressive two seasons. Meechie averaged 14ppg in his Junior year and looks to continue his dominance in his final season with the program.
