Levonte David is an NFL Linebacker currently playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. David originates from Miami, Florida where he played high school football for Northwestern High School. David, who now has a Super Bowl ring to his name, won back-to-back state championships in football in 2006 and 2007 for Northwestern.
He then went on to play college football at the community college level at Fort Scott Community College. Fort Scott, with David leading the way, competed in the Junior College National Championship. David then transferred to a college football powerhouse program at the University of Nebraska in 2010, setting school records for most tackles in a season with 153 his first year. After the season concluded, David was a unanimous first-team all Big 12 player and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. After his senior season, David won the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award for being the best linebacker in the Big Ten.
In 2012, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted David in the second round. He started every game that year and led the team in tackles, with a whopping 139. The following year was again successful, as David was named First-Team All Pro.
In 2015 the Buccaneers extended David’s contract, inking a $50 million deal which has kept him with the team through 2021. With Tom Brady and a loaded offense coming to Tampa Bay in 2020 to complement the team’s defense, David won a Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in their home stadium in the 2020 Super Bowl. His contract was extended in March of 2021.
