An Indianapolis native, Gilbert came out of Heritage Christian High School a five star recruit before committing to the Irish, becoming a McDonald’s All-American, an Indiana All-Star team member, and a Jordan Brand Classic member in 2018. In 2020, Gilbert made the ACC All-Freshman Team, averaging 13.6 ppg, ranking 2nd among ACC freshmen in scoring.
