Joey Brunk is a former center for The Ohio State University. The Indianapolis native was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2016 out of Southport High School and committed to Butler. Joey made seven appearances as a freshman, all within the first 10 games in the season, before it became a hardship redshirt year as he dealt with his father’s cancer diagnosis. In his third year with the Bulldogs, Joey averaged 7.6 points per game. The big man then transferred to Indiana University, and in the 2019-20 season Joey averaged 6.8 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 52.2% from the field, and also earning the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Joey underwent back surgery in December 2020 and missed the 2020-21 season. With one year of eligibility left, Joey announced in April 2021 that he was heading to Ohio State. Joey served as a key rotational player before announcing plans to go to law school. Joey has a degree in both elementary education and recreation administration.
