Jim Kelly is a former NFL quarterback and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Pennsylvania native attended the University of Miami from 1979-1982 and ignited the Hurricanes’ turnaround to become the top program in the nation in the 1980s.
Jim was drafted in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. Before beginning his Bills career, Jim spent two seasons in the United States Football League with the Houston Gamblers. But when the USFL folded, Jim joined the Bills for the 1986 season. In eight out of his 11 seasons with the Bills Jim led the team to the playoffs, including 4 consecutive Super Bowls (1990-1993). Jim was a First-team All-Pro in 1991 and a 5-time Pro Bowler.
Off the field, Jim has made a massive difference in the community. The Kelly for Kids Foundation serves disadvantaged and disabled youth in Western New York through the distribution of grant money raised throughout the year. The Hunter’s Hope Foundation - named after Jim’s son Hunter, who died when he was 8 due to Krabbe disease - was established the year Hunter was born, and is dedicated to raising awareness about Krabbe disease and supporting those afflicted by it as well as their families.
