Jalen Tolbert is a receiver fo the Dallas Cowboys. He formerly for the South Alabama Jaguars. Considered a two-star prospect by 247Sports.com, he lettered three years, starting as a senior, at McGill-Toolen High School and received honorable mention all-region accolades from the Mobile Press-Register/AL.com following his senior year after catching 37 passes for 696 yards and nine touchdowns.
Unfortunately, he was injured in the opening scrimmage of preseason camp, forcing him to miss his freshman season, but then proceeded to play every game of his redshirt freshman season.
His sophomore season he started all 12 contests and finished the year with 27 catches for 521 yards. He also led the team with six touchdown receptions and an average of 19.3 yards per catch and recorded 10 gains of 20-plus yards, the third-highest total on the squad. Additionally, he received honorable mention National Performer-of-the-Week accolades from the College Football Performance Awards and was College Sports Madness’ Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording career highs with five catches for 144 yards and setting a school game record with four touchdowns to help lead the Jaguars to a Senior Day victory over Arkansas State.
Voted first-team all-Sun Belt Conference and was a first-team all-league selection by Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele Publications as well. He was chosen the College Football Hall of Fame’s Kia Player of the Month in September. He started in each of the Jaguars’ 11 games. He set school season records with 64 receptions and 1,085 receiving yards making him the first 1,000-yard receiver in program history while matching another with eight touchdown catches. Ended the year as one of two 1,000-yard receivers in the Sun Belt and one of 11 in the nation. He ranked among the top 40 in the country in catches and receiving yards per game, standing second in the league in both categories. He was also seventh in the SBC in all-purpose yards per contest. Led the team in catches on seven occasions and in receiving yards seven time. Finished the year with six scoring and 20 total plays of 20 or more yards, both the best on the team. Named the Sun Belt and College Sports Madness SBC Offensive Player of the Week after setting a school game record with 252 yards and three touchdowns on a career-best 10 catches in a win at Arkansas State. Named the Maxwell Award Player of the Week, and the Athlon Sports and Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week after posting six receptions for 169 yards and two scores in a season-opening victory at Southern Mississippi.
