Book Germayne TIZZANO

For more than 25 years, Dr. Germayne Tizzano, owner and founder of Views From a Tree House, LLC. has presented internationally and nationally on trauma, drug, and alcohol addiction, intimate partner violence, sexuality, sexual health, body image, and resiliency in over 400 educational programs for professionals and businesses. She has addressed various audiences, including staff and advocates at addiction and recovery centers, community correction facilities, sexual health outreach programs, and American Indian Affairs programs. She was also a presenter at the World Association for Sexual Health in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In her speaking engagements, Dr. Tizzano is known for her compassionate and powerful approach to addressing these often taboo and challenging subjects. Her message of hope draws from her personal story of 20 years of childhood sexual abuse and familial-based violence. Using her findings as an avid researcher on the impact of violence on the mind and body, she presents state-of-the-art approaches to resiliency and health. Her compassion and courage emit an emotional, psychological “safe space” necessary for participants to examine trauma and abuse thoroughly. Participants come away with an in depth understanding of the underpinnings of violence and its ties to challenges such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and other addictions. She presents with clarity, vision, and conviction concrete measures that her audience can use to begin healing from the treacherous impact of abuse.

Dr. Tizzano received her Ph.D. in Health Education with a specialty in Preventive Medicine from The Ohio State University. She is the author and publisher of a 32-hour curriculum, Sanctuary for Change, aimed at healthy sexual recovery and intimacy for female survivors of sexual trauma. This published program has been implemented across care systems in the United States and Canada.

Speaking Topics

Bite the Bullet! Go the Extra Mile! A Professional Look at Life from a Different Set of Lenses– Information and Tools for Resiliency

We live in a society that speaks of self-care, yet mixed messages, say don’t. Our culture rewards just keep pushing. When the going gets tough, the tough keep going. Sleep deprived, maxed out on hours worked, demands at home, grab a bite, down the coffee, and smile --- all a recipe for chronic stress, allostatic load, and burnout. And then do it again. A shock crisis occurs, reserves are lacking, and all fallout happens.

This workshop provides you an opportunity to take a break, and through a relaxed yet dynamic setting, you can look at default patterns that may be getting in the way of living an enhanced life. By gaining a greater understanding of the neurobiology of the brain, we cannot only understand measures to be taken based on agency; we c butan also provide clients with a model for change. This workshop will offer the chance to experiment with various activities that can strengthen the power of our vagal nerve, support our core intuition, and examine measures to support brain health.

Changing Mind, Changing Heart, Changing Soul – Feet Walking Meditations, The Breath, and Other Essential Tools and Resources for the Blossoming, Resilient Survivor

The ACE study creates a disheartening trajectory for the victims of childhood abuse. Highly entrenched survival patterns for coping with childhood abuse leads to long-term severe physical, emotional, and relational difficulties. Significant risks for cardiovascular, immune suppression, diabetes, depression, anxiety disorders, and suicidal risk are some among many conditions faced by the innocent victim. A conscious and deliberate effort is needed to create changing neural pathways to support health, well-being, and fulfillment.

Changing the familiar is difficult, especially for persons gravely impacted by childhood trauma.

This workshop embraces the right and belief that change is entirely possible. We are in exciting times with a vastness of emerging knowledge and information on neurobiology, vagal health, and mind-body system interventions. This workshop addresses the underpinnings of childhood trauma on the mind-body system, including the part of the brain that controls whether stress and trauma are healed. Participants will gain an understanding of the solutions and practices that support the unique needs of the trauma survivor in achieving their health and recovery. This program includes a review of readiness and motivational interviewing for change.
