Edgar Renteria is a former MLB All-Star shortstop for many MLB clubs. Over his 16-year MLB career, Renteria was a 5x All-Star (1998, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006), a 2x Gold Glove Award winner, a 3x Silver Slugger Award Winner, and a 2x World Series Champion winning titles in the very beginning and end of his career (1997, 2010). He was named World Series MVP in 2010.
Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Renteria was signed by the Miami Marlins in 1992 and made his MLB debut for the team in 1996. In 1997, he and the Marlins won the World Series. Following his time in Miami, Renteria went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, and Cincinnati Reds. As a member of the 2010 Giants, Renteria won his second World Series and was named the Most Valuable Player in that series. In his native Colombia, Renteria is a superstar, and a stadium in the country, El Estadio Edgar Renteria, bears his name.
