Dwight Howard was born on December 8, 1985, in Atlanta Georgia to Dwight Howard Sr. and Sheryl Howard. It wasn't until Dwight was nine years old that he became serious about the game of basketball. Dwight developed his strong athletic abilities from both his mom and dad.
Dwight attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy and played the power forward position. In his senior year he was recognized as the best American high school basketball player, received the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award, the Morgan Wooten High School Player of the Year Award, Gatorade National Player of the Year, and the McDonald's National High School Player of the Year. He was also named Co-MVP, alongside J.R. Smith, of the McDonald's All-American Game.
It was no surprise that in 2004, Dwight Howard entered the NBA Draft and was selected as the first overall pick for the Orlando Magic. He led his team to their first NBA Finals in 2009. Dwight is currently playing for the Taiwan Mustangs, following an 18-year career in the NBA that includes an NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
