Cory Procter is a former NFL offensive lineman, who after his retirement became a successful wealth manager, keynote speaker, and a faith-driven man, inspiring audiences with his story.
In 2005, he was picked up by the Detroit Lions practice squad. Seizing yet another opportunity he wasn’t expecting, he made the most of it. Procter worked hard, focused, and pushed himself forward. One yard at a time. Overnight, Cory ended up in Texas playing for the Dallas Cowboys. His tenure with the Cowboys would last 5 seasons and span two monumental stadiums. In 2007, Cory was introduced to his wife through mutual friends, and Megan has been by his side ever since. Together, both Texas transplants, they made the Lone Star State their home, growing their football family.
Cory continued to soar, until 2010, after moving to Miami. During gameplay on an oppressive night in Miami, he had a massive and career-ending injury. Procter did not know that was his new reality, that his time in the sun had come to an end. As he stumbled through the next few years, seven surgeries, tons of rehab, and moving back and forth across the US to continue his football dream, he emerged a broken man, struggling to redefine himself. He and Megan began a family in 2011, with Cory limping down the aisle.
Cory and Megan began 2015 with the birth of their daughter, Grace. But soon after this joyous occasion, the Procters had to endure one of the greatest challenges of their lives. In the spring of that same year, cancer struck the family and shook their world. That was the moment. The moment that would come to end one chapter of Cory’s story, and open another brighter one. Cory’s football dream had come to an end, the family suffered a loss, and he was not sure which way to walk, which way his path was supposed to go. It was during this painful time, that family friends introduced the Procters to their church. He was reluctant to go, recalcitrant towards God, still brewing from the long, rocky road he had endured since Miami. But standing there that day in church, the sun shone upon him again. His spiritual rebirth had begun, and it brought the core of who Cory is back to the forefront.
