Montgomery arrived on Florida State’s campus as perhaps the most highly regarded high school pitcher in the state. He emerged from Windermere High School as the #1 ranked high school pitcher in Florida and was the highest ranked high school player to ever land on Florida State’s campus. As a freshman in the ACC, Montgomery held his own impressively, posting 39 strikeouts in 28 innings.
