As the head women’s basketball coach at Florida State University (FSU) and breast cancer overcomer, Brooke Wyckoff is leading the charge and continuing a legacy. As a former WNBA and USA Basketball player, and a celebrated FSU student-athlete, the highly sought-after award-winning Coach Wyckoff was always a standout leader recognized as one of the nation’s top defenders and later was inducted into the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame.
With 20+ years of notable basketball experience, Wyckoff advocates for overall character growth among players, recruits, and the community.
Her professional basketball career spans continents as she spent time in the US as a player for the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, and Orlando Miracle, and in Spain as a player for Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, in addition to coaching for over 10 years at the collegiate level. Her expertise for top talent has also aided in the career path of All-American athletes, International Olympians, and hundreds of other women leaders that are now leading teams off of the court.
Wyckoff always strives to have the best interest for her team. While her forward-thinking approach to coaching is cohesive and supportive, her goal is to restructure high-performance environments to inspire others. Wyckoff’s mission is to be a model for the student-athlete through compassion, encouragement, and teaching, all while ensuring the players understand their value. She recognizes the players as people first, students second, and athletes third.
Known as a maverick who has naturally forged her own courageous career path, Wyckoff is leading by doing as co-founder of Moms in Coaching, a resource for mothers who coach at all levels of college basketball. Wyckoff’s goal is to create a space for women and moms in coaching and bring awareness to the needs of mothers that have an impact on wellness and performance.
As a leader, Wyckoff’s aim is to empower others to be the most fulfilled versions of themselves and prove that women can have self-worth and joy in the duality of their lives. It is through the sport of basketball that Wyckoff is contributing to individual growth through connections and experiences; yet, it is through her courageous ability to uplift others that she is advocating the importance of healthy holistic support systems.
