Ashley Owusu is a senior guard for the Virginia Tech Hokies. She comes to Virginia Tech after three standout seasons with the Maryland Terapins. A 6'0 combo guard from Woodbridge, VA, Owusu was a McDonald's All-American and ESPN's number five overall player in 2019. She quickly lived up to the hype in her first season as a Terp, taking home the Big Ten Freshman of the year award for her stellar play in 2019-2020. She continued her success in 2021, leading her team to the Sweet 16 and winning the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award for the nation's top shooting guard. She also earned First Team All-Big Ten honors. In 2022 she continued playing at a high level, averaging 14.3 points per game, while posting eight 20-point games. She was also named to the Big Ten’s Second Team in 2022. Representing USA Basketball in Summer 2021, Ashley won a Gold Medal at the FIBA AmeriCup in San Juan. Her game has earned praise on Twitter from current WNBA stars Arike Ogunbowale and A'ja Wilson- if Owusu keeps up the pace, it won't be long before she's sharing a court with them.
