Hi there!
My name is Asha Devi and I am an Actress, Writer, and Educator based in New York City. As a storyteller, my aim is to move individuals from self-consciousness to self-awareness and help them prioritize purpose over ego. As a young adult, I was extremely disillusioned to find myself and my peers at the intersection of Self-Indulgence and Self-Destruction, and made it my mission to choose Self-Efficacy instead. Some of my many goals are to end the stigma against mental illness, promote empowerment through personal responsibility, and bring representation to my Indo-Caribbean culture and mindset. My love for public speaking started in junior high school, when I was recruited to join my high school's Speech and Debate team. I dedicated myself to the world of public speaking and became Captain of the Speech division. I specialized in Original Oratory and Dramatic Interpretation, becoming #1 in the Nation in the latter on the National Speech & Debate Association's official rankings for the majority of my senior year. In college, I deepened my communication skills as an actor, and eventually was chosen to be the NYU Tisch Class of 2019 Commencement Speaker, at which I addressed over 6,000 people at Radio City Music Hall and shared the stage with actress Molly Shannon. I spent the Covid-19 pandemic working as an elementary school teacher in an integrated special ed/gen ed classroom, and have taught SAT prep to hundreds of high schoolers throughout New York City. I have also been recruited for numerous speaking engagements, and am a diligent researcher who feels comfortable speaking on a wide range of subjects to audiences of any size and demographic.
