Andy Landers joined SEC Network as a women’s basketball analyst in 2015. Landers brought a wealth of knowledge to the SEC Network after a successful career coaching the Georgia Lady Bulldogs for 36 years. In 2016, he joined ESPN’s studio coverage of women’s college basketball, working alongside Rebecca Lobo, Kara Lawson and Maria Taylor.
During his 40 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Landers compiled 944 wins, a total that ranked No. 5 all-time in women’s college basketball history. He led Georgia to 862 wins in 36 seasons, making Landers one of only eight basketball coaches – men’s or women’s – to record 850 victories at one Division I school.
A remarkable 25 former Lady Bulldogs went on to play in the WNBA, and he coached 43 First Team All-SEC selections, 4 SEC Player of the Year picks, 31 All-Americans, and 3 National Player of the Year honorees. He led the Georgia Lady Bulldogs to 31 NCAA Tournaments, equaling the most by any Division I women’s basketball coach. Landers’ teams advanced to 20 Sweet 16s, 11 Elite Eights, and 5 Final Fours, as well as finishing as NCAA runner-up in 1985 and 1996. He won 7 SEC Championships and 4 SEC Tournament titles, which led him to receive 3 SEC Coach of the Year Awards and 4 National Coach of the Year Awards.
Including four seasons at Roane State College from 1976-79, Landers’ teams averaged an impressive 24 wins per season during his tenure, including 32 20-win seasons and 19 top-10 national rankings. In 2007, Landers was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
In 2009, Landers, the state of Georgia’s winningest college basketball coach at any level, was inducted into the State of Georgia’s Sports Hall of Fame. He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in Physical Education. Landers and his wife, Pam, and two children, Andrea and Drew.
