These 104 influential Black public speakers featured on this list have made significant contributions in their respective fields. 1. Sekou Andrews

Let’s talk about Sekou Andrews - a gifted poet, speaker, and educator, who uses his art to inspire and empower audiences. As a leading voice in the spoken word movement, he has performed at numerous events and festivals, sharing his message of hope and resilience. 

The Grammy nominated artist has been named by Forbes Magazine as the “ “the de facto poet laureate of corporate America.” Sekou Andrews brings a voice like no other to speaking engagements, with more than twenty years of engaging and inspiring audiences. Through his work, he has created a platform for social commentary and activism, challenging dominant narratives and promoting positive change.

1.  Chef Andre Rush

Chef Andre Rush is a retired combat veteran turned celebrated chef, author, and advocate for mental health awareness. As a former US Army Master Sergeant, he has used his platform to raise awareness about PTSD and mental health issues affecting veterans. 

Through his cooking and public speaking, he has inspired individuals to prioritize their well-being and seek help when needed, promoting a culture of empathy and understanding – especially in Black communities where individuals with mental health issues are statistically less likely to seek and receive help in a significant contrast compared to white people. 

1. Speech Thomas

Speech Thomas is a talented musician, producer, and social activist, using his art to promote social justice and empowerment. As a founding member of the hip-hop group Arrested Development, he has created music that inspires and educates, challenging dominant narratives and promoting positive change. 

Nearly thirty years ago, Speech Thomas, along with his mother, started the Terrence Thomas Scholarship, providing the opportunity for young Black students to pursue advanced education. Over time, the scholarship has raised more than a million dollars. This is just one example of the incredible impact Speech Thomas has had on the Black youth community. His presence on the stage is inspiring and an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.

1. Amy Dubois Barnett

Amy Dubois Barnett is a seasoned journalist and media executive, known for her work in promoting diversity and inclusion in the media industry. As a former editor-in-chief of Ebony magazine, she has created platforms for underrepresented voices, amplifying the stories and experiences of Black people. She has also served as Deputy Editor in Chief at Harper’s Bazaar, and Chief Editor at Teen People. 

Through her writing and public speaking, she has inspired individuals to demand more from the media, promoting a more just and equitable representation of diverse communities. With her extensive experience in the media industry, Amy Dubois Barnett brings a unique perspective to the conversation, highlighting the importance of representation and diversity in media. 1.  Anton Gunn

Anton Gunn is a dedicated advocate for social justice and human rights, working tirelessly to promote education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for marginalized communities. Born in the Bronx, Swanston's entrepreneurial journey began with his event promotion and production company, Full Eclipse, which he founded as a junior in college. He went on to become one of the youngest Vice Presidents of Investments at JP Morgan Chase & Co. before launching Tru Optik, a data and identity company for streaming media advertising that was acquired by TransUnion in 2020, resulting in one of the largest acquisitions by a Black American CEO and founder.

Swanston's accomplishments have earned him numerous awards and recognition, including appointments to the Board of Connecticut Innovations and the presidency of Connecticut Sports Group, which owns the Connecticut United Football Club. 

22. John Register

With a strong educational background, including a JD from Syracuse University and an MBA from Babson College, Cooper has also held notable positions, such as Presidential Distinguished Scholar at the University of Maryland Baltimore and Board Trustee at the University of Maryland Baltimore, making him a valuable speaker and advocate for Black communities in the tech industry.

She holds an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business and dual Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from Georgia Institute of Technology and Spelman College, as well as certifications in Nutrition & Wellness. Through her work, Rochester has created a thriving intergenerational community centered on wellness and excellence, garnering recognition in prominent media outlets and speaking on holistic wellness for underserved communities on the TedxHarlem stage.

37.  Dr. Kevin Cosby

Dr. Kevin W. Cosby has served as the Senior Pastor of St. Stephen Baptist Church in Kentucky for over 40 years and has been the President of Simmons College of Kentucky since 2005, leading the institution to national accreditation and expansion to three campus locations. Under his leadership, Simmons was recognized as a Historically Black College & University by the U.S. Department of Education in 2014. 

Dr. Cosby has received numerous honors, including induction into the Gallery of Great Black Kentuckians and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College. He has also authored a book, "Getting to the Promised Land: Black America and the Unfinished Work of The Civil Rights Movement," and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree, with a Ph.D. in progress from Union Institute & University.

38. Percy "Master P" Miller

Percy "Master P" Miller is a successful entrepreneur and investor, known for his work in promoting diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. As the founder of No Limit Records, he has created a platform for underrepresented artists, investing in music and promoting innovation.

Minda Harts is a bestselling author, speaker, and thought leader who has written several books, including "The Memo" and "Right Within", and has presented at various companies and events, such as Nike, Google, and the Aspen Ideas Festival, on topics like leadership, diversity, and management. 

She is an assistant professor at NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and founder of The Memo LLC, a career development company. Harts has received recognition for her work, including being named LinkedIn's #1 Top Voice for Equity in the Workplace in 2020 and one of Business Insider's top 100 People Transforming Business in 2022, and hosts a weekly career podcast called Secure the Seat.Today, Minda Harts is sought-after speaker and consultant, helping organizations to create a more inclusive and equitable work environment.

40. Daryl Davis

Daryl Davis is a musician, author, and speaker who has spent over 30 years engaging with leaders of the KKK and White supremacist groups to understand their perspectives and build bridges. He has written a book, "Klan-Destine Relationships", and been featured in a documentary, "Accidental Courtesy", which chronicles his journey. 

Davis has received numerous awards for his work, including the American Ethical Union's Elliott-Black Award and the Carnegie-Mellon's Carl Sagan Award & Prize. He has also been recognized by the U.S. State Department as an expert on race relations and conflict, and has presented programs in various countries around the world. Through his work, Davis has developed a method of transforming enemies into friends, and his presentations empower audiences to overcome their fears, confront their prejudices, and improve their relationships with others.

41. Rodney Williams

Rodney Williams is the co-founder of SoLo Funds, a community finance platform that has funded over 1 million loans and serves 1.5 million users, making it the largest of its kind in the US. Prior to founding SoLo, Williams founded LISNR, a fintech company backed by Visa, and led it to numerous awards and partnerships. He has also held roles at Proctor and Gamble and Lockheed Martin, and serves on the boards of several organizations, including the University of Cincinnati and Howard University. 

Williams has received numerous awards for his entrepreneurial achievements, including being named to Ad Age's 40 Under 40, Black Enterprise's Tech Entrepreneur of the Year, and CNBC's Disruptor 50 List. He holds degrees from West Virginia University and Howard University, and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. 42. Gregory Robinson

Gregory Robinson is a 33-year veteran of NASA, who served as the director of the James Webb Space Telescope, a $10 billion project that has revolutionized space exploration.
